Get device return tips

Learn how to send back a phone on AT&T Next Up or Next Up Anytime after an early upgrade. Or, return a device on an installment plan that we’ve approved for return.

Before you send the device back

Make sure you:

  • Turn off Find My device features and other security settings
  • Back up and transfer your personal info
  • Sign out of cloud services
  • Reset the device to factory settings and delete your eSIM (if applicable)
  • Remove any physical SIM card, memory card, and any accessories

Review the Device Returns Terms & Conditions

Return the device to AT&T

Make sure you send your original device back within 30 days. If you don’t, you’ll be charged the remaining balance on the device’s installment plan. We won’t be able to waive the full balance if it’s a damaged or otherwise unacceptable device. We’ll assess the value of the device and give credit up to that amount, if applicable. The device must:

  • Be in good condition and fully functional
  • Have no physical damage
  • Have no physical changes, such as decals or colors

Place the old device in the box the new device came in (or use your own). Find your prepaid return label in the box. Or to print it, go to att.com/checkmyorder, enter your info, and select Get label. Be sure to ship only one device per box.

Make sure you:

  • Drop the device off at the designated shipping carrier on your label and ask for a receipt. You can keep any power cords and accessories.
  • Check your text or email. We’ll notify you when we receive the device. Track your return

Keep in mind, we can’t return devices once they’ve shipped.
